The RT20A radiotheodolite is a modular system that can be easily integrated into the user’s own transport concept. The RT20A – part of the complete Vaisala tactical radiosonde system, plus the RS41-D radiosonde operating on 1680 MHz frequency, provides highly accurate meteorological data (wind speed/direction, humidity, temperature and pressure) in standard STANAG, WMO and national (e.g. METEO11) message formats.
Easy to transport and quick to commission, the RT20A is the most advanced and accurate RDF antenna for passive sounding. Together with the RT20A, the MARWIN® MW32 receiving system automates the data flow and provides messages in standard formats to other systems, e.g. feeding data directly into the fire control system.
It independently and passively measures the meteorological profile of the atmosphere for artillery ballistic preparation and for use in numerical weather forecast models.
The RT20A comprises 10 sub-assemblies packaged in such a way that a two-person team can easily carry and assembly them.
Rugged design to withstand harsh environmental and transport conditions. MW32 is available either as a portable system, or vehicle / marine installation. Meets relevant MIL-STD-810G specifications for environmental testing and MIL-STD-461F for electromagnetic compatibility.
The sonde measures pressure, humidity and temperature. The humidity sensor in the radiosonde integrates humidity and temperature sensitive elements. Automatic pre-reconditioning of the humidity sensor before launch effectively eliminates chemical contaminants and ensures excellent humidity measurement accuracy. The integrated temperature sensor is used to compensate for the effects of solar radiation in real time. The heating function of the sensor allows an active and efficient method of de-icing in freezing conditions during flight.
All RS41 sensors are calibrated against references that are traceable to international standards (SI units) and measurement uncertainties are estimated according to recommendations of the Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology, 100:2008.
